Transco, a McLane Subsidary, is exempt from following the 30-minute mandatory break rule set down by the federal government. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has granted this exemption because Transco has shown evidence that their drivers already have safe driving habits. Apparently, Transco’s long haul drivers already take breaks that involve physical exercise multiple times a day. Another safety factor is that the drivers are assigned specific routes and return home, all while taking frequent breaks.
