Airless Tires for Big Rigs

Keep an eye out when watching the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, you might see Bridgestone’s airless tires on more than 200 bicycles for the staff and volunteers. These airless non-pneumatic tires are made of three parts, the wheel, the web, and the tread. Beyond the bike tire, Bridgestone is looking to put these wheels on long-haul trucks. They made a version that supports 5,000 pounds and can go up to 75 mph without overheating. These tires will benefit the trucking industry because tire pressure will no longer need to be maintained and there will be no extra time spent on blowouts or holes.
