The New York State Thruway Authority Board of Directors has approved a plan to redevelop 27 rest areas on the Thruway. They were originally built in the 1950s with the last redevelopment in the 1990s. A $450 million investment has been made to rebuild 23 of the rest areas and upgrade the remaining 4. There will be two phases of construction beginning in 2021 for phase one and 2023 for phase two. To make sure customers are not inconvenienced during construction, no two consecutive rest areas in the same direction will be closed at the same time. Click the link below to learn more about this.
