The Truckload Carriers Association has named Morgan Kirkland a Highway Angel for his impressive truck driving skills that help divert a major catastrophe. Kirkland was traveling along US Hwy 90 in Florida during the early morning hours when he came upon a bridge that was narrowed down to a single lane. This was a path he traveled many times but this time was different and terrifying.
Kirkland, hauling methanol, noticed a pair of headlights swerving up ahead and coming directly toward him. With nowhere to go and vehicles behind him, Kirkland knew there was no avoiding an accident and used his knowledge to make the most room possible with his big rig. The driver took out the rear end of the trailer and everyone was okay. The driver was cited for DUI and driving on the wrong side of the road. Kirkland’s quick thinking and actions save a lot of people that day and he has been named a Highway Angel.
