Sleep Apnea and Trucking Accidents

Sleep apnea affects around 4% of the general population, but when it comes to truck drivers it affects about 35% of them. There are three types of sleep apnea, central sleep apnea (CSA), obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and complex sleep apnea syndrome (CSAS). OSA is the type of sleep apnea truckers suffer from the most making it tricky to stay alert when behind the wheel. Some symptoms include diabetes, poor memory, and excessive daytime sleepiness.
