Staring Aug. 1, Louisiana’s new regulations supporting self-driving vehicles will go into effect. With new technologies coming into the trucking industry, Louisiana wants to be ready when they start rolling through the state. Louisiana will allow autonomous vehicles as long as they meet federal safety standards, follow state vehicle and traffic laws, and show minimal risk if some part of their operations fail. Also, each vehicle needs to be registered and carry a minimum of $2 million in insurance.
Backed by Starsky Robotics, the new laws will add Louisiana to the list of twenty-nine other states who have already enacted autonomous laws.
