With Tropical Storm Barry making landfall on the coast of Louisiana and moving through the Mississippi Valley, there is bound to be damage and people in need of help and supplies. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration lifted the HOS restrictions on trucking companies in 21 states and is allowing them to driver straight through if they are participating in response efforts. The declaration is only good for 30 days, starting on July 11, and drivers and carriers are asked to use their good judgement when it comes to what is safe and what is not out there on the road.
