Pennsylvania Pushing for Removing Snow from Trucks

Currently, the state law gives police the ability to fine truck drivers if accumulated snow causes injury or death. Now, they are pushing to be able to ticket for failing to clear snow and ice from their vehicles. Within 24 hours of the weather event, drivers have to put in a “reasonable effort” to remove snow and ice from all parts of their vehicle.

The OOIDA is opposed to these rules as it can be a safety hazard. They have pointed out that there are no readily available facilities where trucks can go to have their snow and ice removed and there is no practical or safe way to climb on top and clear it themselves.
