California’s Air Resources Board has released a new standard on truck manufacturing, stating that half of all medium and heavy-duty truck sales in the state need to be zero-emission. This ambitious proposed regulation created a lot of discussion from critics. Some are calling it unrealistic and some are in full support. If adopted by the Board in the Spring, the Advanced Clean Truck rule requires manufacturers to sell zero-emission trucks as an increasing percentage of their sales from 2024 to 2030. This new rule should further accelerate California’s switch to electric transportation.
