To get the President’s attention, the Small Business in Transportation Coalition (SBTC) has launched an online petition looking to suspend ELDs. Following the data released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stating that on average two occupants of large trucks have died every single day since the new ELD and hours of service laws have been in effect, the SPTC is calling for suspension. This petition launched last Friday at 5 PM and got 10,000 signatures within 72 hours, but in order to get a response from the White House, they need to get 100,000 signatures by November 24.
