The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has extended the Emergency Declaration for commercial vehicles until August 14. The last extension ran through until July 14 and government officials deemed it necessary to keep relief efforts flowing as freely and safely as possible. Those carriers and drivers providing direct assistance in COVID-19 relief efforts are exempt from certain HOS rules as long as everyone is running safely.
This extension is only for those who are transporting livestock and its feed, medical supplies and equipment specifically for COVID-19, and supplies and equipment to keep communities safe and healthy during this pandemic.
