Previously set to expire on August 14, Emergency Declaration 2020-002 set out by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will now expire on September 14, 2020. The extension has been declared because the presidentially declared emergency is still in place. This waiver changes the Hours of Service commercial drivers have to abide by in parts 390 through 399 because of emergency needs during this pandemic.
The last waiver extension included commercial vehicle operators who provided direct assistance supporting emergency relief due to COVID-19 and limited to hauling livestock and its feed, necessary medical supplies and equipment, and supplies needed for community safety and health. This new waiver extension now also includes hauling food, paper products, and groceries for emergency restocking. Click the link below to read the updated waiver.
