The American Trucking Associations and its partners requested to block the truck-only tolls in Rhode Island. These requests were denied by a federal court, but just barely. The tolls were put into effect two years ago and the daily maximum for a truck toll is $40. Going straight through on I-95 is capped at $20 and trucks making a round trip on the same route only has to pay the toll once. It has been claimed that these tolls violate the Commerce Clause and that out-of-state truckers are picking up the tab. It’s likely to be sorted out during a trial.
