Last year, the New York State Police handed out more than 15,000 tickets to violators of the state’s section 1163 law that includes not using your turn signal, misusing your blinker or not using your blinker at least 100 feet before making your turn. For truck drivers, and their inability to stop quickly, the blinker makes their jobs easier and safer for everyone around them.
Some excuses for not using the blinker include laziness, not enough time to use it and they don’t want to use it because they forget to shut it off. This small gesture is one that helps the people around you know what you are doing and where you are going, yet it still gets neglected.
