Trucking company Saia Inc. has begun the process of building a new facility in Memphis by filing for close to $15 million in building permits. With the 200-dock facility’s property bordering single-family housing there has been some backlash about this location. Last October, Land Use denied Saia’s request, but the company’s appeal was approved by the Memphis City Council in February. One of the reasons for the support by the city council is the amount of jobs Saia will bring to the city and area.
