Northern Minnesota is pretty well known for its extremely cold winters, but if you live there it’s known for the many beet farms spread out across the flat landscape. During the harvesting season you will see a lot of dirt on the roads from the trucks hauling beets. Trucks slowly and steadily follow harvesters through the field, while being loaded with beets, and get towed out by tractors if their newer weight can’t make it out of the thick dirt. Fully loaded, they drive to the plant to get weighed and drop off their load so they can head back out for another round.
