John Bendel, a columnist, found some notes he took during a ride along in 1994 with truckload driver Richard Hitchcock who then drove for Transport America of Minneapolis. Over the years, the trucking industry has changed dramatically and it doesn’t look likely to slow down any time soon. In this story there are many changes Bendel and Hitchcock talk about that have happened since Hitchcock started driving. They discuss carriers who have shut down, how truckers communicate, parking, and how truckers keep their logs.
