Mike Strain, D.V.M., the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner, sent out a news release reminding people to be extra cautious on the road during sugarcane harvesting season. The season runs from September through December and during this time there will be more large, slow-moving vehicles on the roads. He reminds drivers to leave a few minutes early, slow down and be patient, watch for slow vehicles, and put your phones down.
