Some Advice from a Tennessee Truck Driver

Tim Chelette has logged almost 2 million accident-free miles, making him one of the safest drivers on the road. Recently, he became one of the 18 national ambassadors to the American Trucking Associations’ America’s Road Team. This group of people represents the trucking industry and advocate for safety. As a driver for Big G out of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Chelette makes it a point to practice safe driving so everyone out on the road can get home to their families. Here are a few tips for cars sharing the roads with big rigs:

  • Turn your lights on in the daytime, especially during a rainstorm.
  • Move out of a trucker’s blind spot. If you can’t see the trucker’s face in the side mirror, chances are they can’t see you.
  • Accelerate and merge from an on-ramp, don’t starting pumping your brakes.
