According to data put out by Samsara, the Internet of Things provider, during their shifts, truckers are more likely to take up bad driving behaviors during the beginning and near the end of their shifts. Also, with less traffic out on the roads due to the pandemic, more truckers are speeding, as are the majority of drivers around the country.
According to the data gathered, unsafe driving behaviors were 26% more likely to happen at the beginning of the driver’s shift and 41% more likely to happen near the end of it. These behaviors include quick braking, quick acceleration, tailgating, and distracted driving. Driver coaching and in-cab alerts can help prevent these behaviors and further improve driver safety.
