A study has been put out by the Eastern Transportation Coalition showing that a one-size-fits-all pay structure for drivers in the trucking industry will not work for everyone. This study also found that when it comes to fuel costs, trucks and cars are nothing alike and a single rate for trucks is not going to work. It also found that there is much need for further education and discussion regarding this system and how different trucks, loads, and companies can drastically change how much fuel is used. The full length of the study was done from October 2018 through March 2019 and included over 50 tractor-trailers traveling more than 1.4 million miles through 27 states.
