Freightwaves has added a third installment of dangerous roads for truckers. If possible, avoid these:
- There are dual bridges on Interstate 80 in Joliet, Illinois that have been tagged as being in serious or critical condition. They carry somewhere near 12,000 big trucks every day, have steep grades, and have tight turns.
- The Rockies are beautiful, but some of those highways going through them get quite treacherous when the weather turns ugly. Interstate 70 in Colorado is one of those to avoid when the weather turns. Colorado does have strict chain laws, but sometimes those don’t help with multiple feet of snow, high wind gusts, and steep slopes.
- South Carolina’s most dangerous road is Interstate 26. In 2018 it had a total of 4,592 traffic collisions killing 39 people. It has steep ditches, lacks guardrails, and isn’t wide enough for the traffic it gets.
