A group of Oregon State University College of Engineering students has developed a handle for truckers to use when getting in and out of their cabs. Arthur Well, a master’s student at OSU, led the team in the Prototype Development Lab where the after-market device was developed. The five-sided handle is mounted under the instrument panel between the door and the driver. When the driver is in the cab, the handle is in a locked position. To exit the cab, the driver needs to unlock the handle and swing it outward, creating and safe and handy object to hang onto when entering and exiting the cab.
