Last Friday, truckers in Mexico blocked northbound access to the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas, to protest the new route for empty trucks. A new pilot program put out by U.S. Customs and Border Protection reroutes empty northbound trucks through the Colombia-Solidarity bridge. Truckers are not happy about this change because the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge is 19 miles northwest of the World Trade Bridge and extra miles cost money in the trucking industry. Traffic is once again moving along but the program will be reviewed for continuation or cancellation. Click the link below for more information about this.
