Connecting lower Michigan to the Upper Peninsula, the Mackinac Bridge has been named “Mighty Mac”. At around 200 feet above the water at its highest point, this bridge spans 5 miles and causes truckers quite a bit of stress on those windy days.
The New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia is the fourth-longest single-span arch bridge in the world. It spans just over 3,000 feet and sits 876 feet above the New River. For a trucker, or anyone driving over this bridge, that’s a terrifying drop.
The Rainbow Bridge in southeastern Texas has a pretty name but just looking at it can cause a lot of anxiety to truckers. Its highest point is 177 feet above the Neches River and was built this way for a tall ship to pass through, but never did.
