Even though they are have been recognized as essential workers throughout this pandemic, Canadian truckers are finding it hard to continue on as their basic needs are not being met. There are many bathrooms that have remained closed, leaving truckers out in the cold to hunt down other open sanitary washrooms to use. Truckers also enjoy breaks from their trucks from time to time and sitting down to a hot meal is one of them. They have been finding no restaurants they can sit down in and end up having to take their food back to their trucks. Long-haul truckers don’t have a home to go back to every night and rely on rest areas, restaurants, and others to help them with their basic needs. It’s unfortunately these aren’t available when they need them the most.
