Winter is pretty much here, along with blizzards and slick roads. Even though roads can be treacherous this time of year everyone keeps rolling, including truckers. Everyone needs to be a bit more cautious when the roads are icy, and the snow is falling. Here are some safety tips for truckers to follow when the roads are garbage.
- Go slow. On a good day, it takes longer to slow down and when the roads are icy it takes even longer.
- Keep a good distance from the vehicle in front of you. Again, stopping is going to be extra tricky on winter roads.
- Check your truck’s systems. You don’t want to break down in the middle of nowhere when it’s dangerous to be outside for too long.
