The holiday weekend is upon us and the truck drivers of the American Trucking Association’s Share the Road safety program have some advice to share with all of us to stay safe this busy weekend.
This is one of the busiest travel weekends and the top piece of advice given is to buckle up.
When out on the roads, make time to get where you need to be in a timely manner, slow down. There are a lot of people and workers out on the road so take the time to make sure everyone stays safe.
If you are traveling next to a big truck, make sure you steer clear of its blind spots. If you can’t see the truck driver, they can’t see you either. Also, don’t cut off big trucks, it takes them longer to slow down than it does for a small car.
Make sure your car is prepped for long travel by checking your fluids, tires, and systems. It’s a good idea to make sure you have a spare tire on hand and extra fluids if you have the room.
One last thing and one of the most important is to not drive impaired. Let’s celebrate our freedom this weekend and keep everyone safe. Click the link below to learn more ways to stay safe while traveling over the fourth.
