There are two Interstates in Oklahoma where the speed limit is going from 70 mph to 75 mph. On Monday, the Oklahoma Transportation Commission voted to raise the speed limit of particular portions of Interstate 35 and Interstate 40. These changes will go into effect in a couple of months when the new signage is up.
The section of I-35 will be from the Texas state line traveling north for 90.2 miles near Purcell. Also on I-35, an 88.6-mile stretch from the Oklahoma-Logan County line to the Kansas state line will have a higher speed limit.
The section of I-40 to increase will be from the Texas border traveling east for 32 miles almost to Elk City. Also, for 22.1 miles east of Elk City to just west of Clinton, the 50.1 miles from east of Weatherford almost to Yukon, and for 115.7 miles just east of Shawnee almost to Sallisaw.
