According to a recent study, the current fear of truckers losing their jobs to automated trucking is unnecessary. This study shows the number of truck drivers who could be affected by automation is smaller than what has been assumed and projected by the media and other sources. It also shows there are many non-driving tasks (following safety procedures, securing cargo, etc.) truck drivers do and automation can’t. There is a big difference in the trucking industry between which duties can be automated and which ones can’t.
