At its truck assembly plant in Dublin, Va., Volvo Trucks North America is using 3D printing technology to produce fixtures and tools. These printed tools have helped improve quality and precision by being exact copies and eliminating errors. By eliminating errors and streamlining the manufacturing process, this system allows the customers to receive their products in a more timely manner. Some of the 3D printed parts being used at Volvo include vacuum drill ducts, luggage door pins, and roof seal gauges. Volvo plans on further investing in 3D printing, hoping to save their customers time and money.
