On the Yeoju Smart Highway in South Korea, Hyundai Motor Company has successfully completed the company’s first platooning of trailer trucks. The trial used two connected Xcient trucks along with real-world situations. During the trial, cars were cutting in and out between the trucks, emergency braking was used, and a lower speed limit was used to ensure safety. Platooning reduces air resistance which helps with fuel efficiency and lowers emissions.
